latest photos tourist takes a major tumble on Frontstreet. Police and Emt to the rescue
In St Maarten we love to laugh when we see people fall, but the situation on Backstreet and Frontstreet has been pretty dangerous for awhile. The roads are sinking in, because someone had the bright idea to place cobblestone, on sand. The majority of Philipsburg is filled in by sand. Cobblestone streets are the worst for a sand filled area. Everyday the cleaners are constantly sweeping sand away. If you take as many pictures as I do in Philipsburg, you will see both locals and tourist tripping and falling all day. It's dangerous for mothers carrying babies and especially older people. No one seems to care, because there is no true liability in St Maarten. In the USA the state or the county is responsible for the safety of their streets, and anyone gets hurt because of their negligence, they have to cover the persons medical and sometimes even punitive damages.
